Now Pay Attention, 007

This is a blog on my all-time favourite James Bond 007 character, “Q“, and the exciting gadgets he introduces to James Bond for his upcoming deadly adventures.

The 007 “Q” (Quarter Master) character has been played by Desmond Llewelyn (1914-1999) for 17 James Bond movies, from 1963 to 1999 (above image).

“Q” is the ultimate movie unsung hero.

I have watched every James Bond ever released in the big screen. My favourite all-time 007 movie is the volcanic “You Only Live Twice”

I love the several elements that make up a great awesome 007 movie – starting with the gun barrel sequence with the dripping blood wash, the great movie songs and soundtracks, the leading-edge gadgets, the over-the-top villains, the Bond girls, the car chases, the body-to-body fights, the cool clothes etc.

I always stay till the very end of the end credits just to see the “James Bond will be back in (next Bond movie title)”. Unfortunately this cool practice stopped years ago.

But I always get the biggest (paternal) kick when I watch a grouchy, indifferent Q instruct James Bond, “Now pay attention, 007!” at the MI6 secret gadget lab, to the new gadgets (guns, explosive pens, mini-plane, jet pack, weapon-laden briefcase, cannon-equipped cars, deadly watches etc. Bond always uses and destroys all the gadgets “Q” passes to him by the end of each movie.

With the mild-mannered “Q”, I am reminded that “the meek shall inherit the earth”.

Ah, the James Bond gadgets! I want to share my personal “feel good” everyday gadgets. Not as deadly, not as expensive but Cool nonetheless. They put an upbeat spring in my steps during these interesting, volatile times.

You can say I never leave home without them. Although not expensive, they complement my cool mood for that day.

My Bowl of Rings (above image). Every day, I chose a ring to wear, according to my mood, when I leave my home. Right hand, middle finger.

The ring with the QR Code, when scanned, will lead to this websight. The USA native Indian head nickel coins are from 1928 and 1937 respectively, sculpted by James Earl Fraser. I had a jewelry craftsman friend from Hong Kong turn the vintage coins into silver rings. I bought the Slipknot ring (long nose mask) in honour of my friend, Chris Fehn, who paid a visit to my Meditation Chamber years ago.

My iPhone 15 Promax phone cases (above image). I swap phone cases every few weeks.

My Car Key Chains (above image). I swap key chains every few weeks. I love my various Hotel California and happily weathered vintage brass key chains. I don’t own a Rolls Royce but I got a cool Owner’s brass key chain. There’s a key chain that warns me “Don’t Do Stupid Shit”.

My Ninja Bags (above image). No hidden, deadly weapons, just a mini foldable umbrella and a water flask.

My solar-powered Hula Girls (above image). When I read my books, during my quiet time, on my sofa, I look up and see them dancing to the music I am blasting at that moment in time.

My Cool Gadgets are not as deadly or as expensive as James Bond’s but they put an upbeat spring in my steps during these volatile times.

We only live to laugh enough another day twice (beware: 007 puns).
