On 13 April 2026, I was gifted a mega-cool personalised racing shirt from Singapore’s Chewbacca (Alfred Lim). A kind, unexpected gift from Alfred for the countless fun times we hung out at May The 4th and Comic Convention events.
The Guardians Of Kashyyyk is a worldwide Star Wars costuming organisation for Wookiees comprised of and operated by Star Wars fans. While it is not sponsored by Lucasfilm Ltd., it follows generally accepted ground rules of Star Wars fan groups. Star Wars, its characters , costumes, and all associated items are the intellectual property of Lucasfilm Ltd., used under strict authorisation.
It’s always fun to photograph Chewbacca (“you can call him Al” – a Paul Simon song pun) at interesting visual situations. It helped that Alfred trusted my vision for the spontaneous fun photo shoots.
I always believed my photography is my gift to others, I try to brighten my photo subjects’ days by taking interesting fun, poignant shots of them. Not expecting anything in return.
A great time is always shared by all parties – in front of the camera and also especially from behind the camera.

In 2017, for my countless fun photo shoots with the crazy Star Wars 501st Legion, I was officially inducted as “Friend Of The Legion”, a honorary designation for my support “In Recognition of Exemplary Service to The 501st Legion and the Empire”. Another unexpected, awesome surprise gesture from the Star Wars gang. Thanks, Hansen Khoo!
Fun fact – Starting out with the Boy Scout troop at school, decades later I’m amused and proud to still be a part of a fun uniformed group, albeit from a different galaxy!
