CD Singles are my Feel Good Health Supplements.
When I play them, I get instantly transported into a familiar Happy Realm.
If Albums (Vinyls and CDs) are like Books, Singles (Vinyls and CDs) are like Magazines. Both will bring glad-tidings and energy to the different spectrums of the Happy Realm.
Like vinyl singles in the good old days of vinyls, a band’s current hit song is on the A side. Sometimes they put music gems on the B side.
I love the CD Singles because the different versions of a certain catchy and upbeat hit song that I gravitate to. Sometimes the tracks may be extended versions, instrumentals (little or no vocals), live concert versions or different versions produced by different producers. At times, the singer or band may slot in an obscure song from his/her/their catalogue.
Yes, I really don’t mind listening to ten versions of Cher’s Believe hit song in one uninterrupted go.
Record labels do not make CD Singles for every band or hit songs. I buy what’s available in CD stores. I like going to CD stores in the USA, UK and Australia where their stores offer much CD Singles. Alas, these days the sales reps there do not know what a CD Single is. Haha. Oh well, I’m contented with what’s already in my 100+ CD Singles collection..
I share with you some of my favourite CD Singles below.
