This blog is on one of my favourite rock bands – Pink Floyd. If I were to rank my all-time four top favourite bands, it would be the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, and Fleetwood Mac. Each member of these bands are larger-than-life talented rock stars.
Pink Floyd can be divided into three phases – 1) the Syd Barrett era, 2) the Roger Waters era and 3) the David Gilmour era.
Each era has its merits, idiosyncrasies and magnificence.
Every great band will have their four album streak of magnum opus greatness –
Beatles – “Rubber Soul”, “Revolver”, “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”, “White Album”.
Rolling Stones – “Beggars Banquet”, “Let It Bleed”, “Sticky Fingers”, “Exile On Main Street“.
Pink Floyd – “The Dark Side Of The Moon”, “Wish You Were Here”, “Animals”, “The Wall”.

My Recent Pink Floyd Purchases (above image). February 2026. This year, I decided to buy up the early Pink Floyd albums that I gave a miss during my teenage years or that my pocket money was not enough to make these indulgences. Add to the “not-yet” list, the Mike Oldfield releases – Tubular Bells, Hergest Ridge and Ommadawn albums.
Come 2026, I finally decided to buy up the earlier psychedelic outputs from Pink Floyd – “A Saucerful Of Secrets”, “Ummagumma”, “Atom Heart Mother”, “Obscured By Clouds” and “More”.
Pink Floyd’s Ummagumma and Mike Oldfield’s Ommadawn. Omm, a 70’s Zen album naming trend. I suppose I will acquire the “Ommadawn” album one of these fine blue moons.

My Current Pink Floyd Collection (above image). As you can see, I have various copies of “Wish you Were Here”, “Animals” and “The Dark Side Of The Moon”.
Kudos must be accorded to David Gilmour. When Roger Waters left Pink Floyd, he thought the band would be finished. But David Gilmour decided the band must go on. With the support of Nick Mason and Rick Wright, they soldiered on.

My Comprehensive Pink Floyd Collection (above image).
These days, like the surviving members of the Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, where the highlights of their concerts are the Beatles songs. As with Roger Waters and David Gilmour, the highlights of their concerts are Pink Floyd songs.
My deepest respects to Paul, Ringo, Roger and David for still touring.
