“Easy Like Sunday Moring” is an elegant relaxing phrase taken from ballad, “Easy”, composed by Lionel Richie, while he was “Still” (another great Lionel Richie composition), in the Commodores.
“Easy Like Sunday Moring” evokes the relaxed, carefree feeling of Sunday; free from weekly work pressures, and stupid clients, bosses. and colleagues.
This blog is my tribute to the word “Easy” and how I fired Servitude (corporate life) and embraced Solitude (artistic life).
I love the word, “EASY”. It conjures up the senses of simplicity (not hard), freedom, stability, gentleness, Zen, relaxation, smoothness, stress-lessness, painless, comfortable, tolerance, drama-less, effortlessness, unchallenging, laid-backness, low-maintenance, gliding downhill, uncomplicated, blissfulness, and gradualness.

My March 1984 Heavily Weathered “EZ CWBY” US License Plate (above image). This “Easy Cowboy” plate resonated with my hippie-heart because it reminded me of the psychedelic, motorcycle (chopper) hippie movie, “Easy Rider”. And perhaps John Schlesinger’s “Midnight Cowboy“ cinematic masterpiece, starring Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight.
I am lucky to have met Peter Fonda, the actor who played the easy-going “Captain America” character in the movie, as well as the equally easy-going inspiration for the “Captain America” character, Roger McGuinn,

In having “retyred” from the fast-moving corporate world, as a high-flying senior partner in the management consulting world, I have simply become an “Easy Cowboy”, in the guise of a camera-slinging Rock Photographer.
I fired Servitude and embraced Solitude.
In my quiet time, usually in the tranquil early mornings, I commune with my old friend, Destiny. It advises me on my Direction to proceed, but never providing any journey details. My reward is in the journey, not the destination.
Retyrement Revelation: 99% of the Rock Stars I have hung out with and photographed in this Websight, have occurred after I retyred. After I took my Leap of Faith.
Therefore, I urge you, my fellow readers and destiny journeymen and journeywomen, realise the following three truths for yourself:
Follow Your Dreams!
Dream Big!
Dreams Do Come True!
Okay, back to the Commodores‘ “Easy” ballad.
The defiant, self-believing lyrics of the ballad, “Easy”, composed by Lionel Richie, goes like this:
“Why in the world would anyone put chains on me
I’ve paid my dues to make it
Everyone wants me to be
What they want me to be
I’m not happy when I try to fake it, no, ooh”
“That’s why I’m easy
I’m easy like Sunday morning”
In “retyring”, I stopped working for other people (bosses and clients) and focusing on my Destiny, my Pace and my “Easy”.
I have long realised that Much Money (earned, accrued, and compounded), equals Much Control over Time. And Time equals “Life“. My Life!
Another great “easy” song is the Eagles’ 1972 hit song, “Peaceful Easy Feeling” written by Jack Templin. The song describes a state of calm emotional independence, contentment, and being grounded in the present moment.
The laidback lyrics of the ballad, “Peaceful Easy Feeling“ goes like this:
“And I got a peaceful easy feelin’
And I know you won’t let me down
‘Cause I’m already standin’
On the ground.”
On every easy Sunday morning, relax yourself by listening to three of my favourite all-time guitar solos in elegant ballads. 1) the Commodore’s “Easy” ballad’s brilliant guitar solo, courtesy of Thomas McClary. 2) the Carpenter’s “Goodbye To Love”guitar solo, brilliantly executed by guitar sessionist Tony Peluso. And 3) Paul McCartney’s Wings’ hit single, “My Love” incredible guitar solo by the talented Henry McCoullough.
