Digital Jukeboxes

Digital Jukeboxes

This is a Historical Blog about the astronomical speed of Digital Miniaturisation and how I gathered up a list of my All-Time Favourite Songs and put them into a Thumb drive, literally smaller than the nail of my thumb. These days my Digital Jukeboxes spew out my All-Time Favourite Songs all day and night long. Commercial free!

I recently came across these Digital Relics from the early days of my Digital Rock Photography Journey. A 2MB and 16 MB Compact Flash Cards for storing my camera images. Before Digital, I shot in glorious Film.

These days, a self-respecting image from modern mirrorless camera can easily take up to 40MB per still image.

These days, I’m using 64GB SD cards for my digital rock photography. A digital delightful luxury, considering I have to change of rolls of Kodak films after 36 pressing of the camera shutter.

Let me now explain the use of that tiny 64GB Ultra-Fit Thumb Drive. It is literally smaller that the nail of my thumb.

One day I wanted to list my all-time favourite songs in my 8,000+ CD collection and put them into a retro radio jukeboxes with a USB outlet. So I started penning down my all-time favourite songs. Lo and behold, the list eventually grew to 1,420 songs! A shout-out to Patrick OJ Tan for his invaluable compilation assistance.

Some Pages Of My All-Time Favourite Songs (above image). I do love my rock and roll and I do know my all-time favourite songs are- the list came straight from my head, slow and steady. You can see the randomness of my thoughts of my all-time favourite songs. There are 35 pages in total! I call these my sacred scripts!

What a therapeutic exercise! It took me more than week (or two) to compile.

The Artistes were diverse, ranging from the obscureAlessi, Them, B.A. Robertson, Norman Greenbaum, Terry Jacks, Steve Hillage, Robbie Dupree, Ali Thompson, Splinter, Jonathan Edwards, Jim Capaldi, Rex Smith, Modern English,Tina Charles, Flying Lizards, Western Union Band, Randy Vanwarmer, Alan O’day, Ruby Turner, Teri De Sario, Samantha Sang, Kalapana, White Plains, Family Dogg, B.W. Stevenson, Thunderclap Newman, Cecilio & Kapono, Milani Bilyeu, Alicia Bridges, Vapors. Onto to the mainstream giantsBeatles, Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Eagles, Grand Funk Railroad, Bee Gees, Dame Olivia Newton John, Miles Davis, Doobie Brothers, Jefferson Airplane, CCR, ELO. Van Morrison, Chicago, etc. Refer list pix above.

My Digital Jukebox (above image). Equipped with blue lighted dials. Remote Control is important because I didn’t want to damage the flimsy knobs on the cheap digital jukeboxes. I never use the Radio function.

64GB Ultra Fit Thumb Drive In My Digital Jukebox (above image). My All-Time Favourite Songs are stored in that little thumb drive! In fact, I duplicated one more so I can play it in my car!

I particularly wanted to listen from retro looking wooden jukeboxes for the delightful visual optics. I wanted to avoid sleek modern iPhones playback devices. Listening mode can be Alphabetical or Random. The Random option is only available in a more expensive model with CD Cassette functions. The cheaper models (pictured below) can only play Alphabetical option.

My Collection of Digital Retro Wooden Music Jukebox (above image). Costing an average cheap price of S$25 +/-, the players are not at all wooden, more like plastic ono bandwidth. I will swap these around every few weeks for visual variety.

I just thought it’ll be awesome to listen to a continuous flow of my all-time favourite songs, as commercial-free background music, played all day/night long around the Home.

It will take me four days to complete a full listen to my All-Time Favourite Songs! Each song brings me to different mental bliss.
