May The 4th, 2025

Last Sunday (18 May), I spent a wondrous day at the May the 4th event at Jurong Regional Library, Singapore. It is the eleventh in the event series. The original event was meant to be on 3-4 May but it turned out 3 May fell on Singapore’s Polling Day.

This year’s event (as with last year) was organised by Messr. Afri Ayub. The previous years before that were initiated and spearheaded by Hansen Khoo, Jeffrey Koh and Suhaimi Subandie.

The May 4th Crew t-shirt (above image), with the Event Crew pass and commemorative patch, cool Star Wars Japan 2025 Celebration patches. Awesome May 4th event logo design by Flabslab. Thanks Afri, Ray, Andrew and Alfred for the cool goodies!

The May 4th Crew T-shirt (above image). Yup, 2020 was dearly missed.

My Signed 2015 May 4th Poster (above image). I shot Darth Vader at the working quarters of Jurong Regional Library. The image became the poster of the second May 4th event. Full circle indeed.

My personal Stash of May 4th Crew Passes over the years (above image). Note: apt galactic Ryan Adams Darth Vader concert pass.

My post-Covid 2020 May 4th Crew Passes were personalised and special (above image). Note: Covid masks.

I figured since I was at a Library, I might as well indulge myself with a juicy book (above image). Backstory: I saw Dr. Ng Song Ping’s brother actually reading this book, and I conveniently borrowed it to take this picture. Thanks, Song Ping for taking the pix. I am multi-tasking – reading this book whilst watching a magnificent show performed by the action-packed Fightsaber troupe.

Dudes with cool 501st Legion racing shirts (above image). My buddy Dr. Ng Song Ping. Always great to catch up with like-minded friends at these events. Actually I just met Dr. Ng at the Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning movie premiere a few days ago on 15 May.

The Merry Crew that made May 4th Event an awesome weekend (above image). The event organiser, Afri Ayub is the smiley in front of the aroused green lightsaber. I’m at the back row, extreme left. Photo courtesy of Jasper Tan.

The giant backdrop served as a charity photo-taking session with various Star Wars characters. The charity proceeds, as with previous years, from the photo posing and photography were donated to Kandang Kerbau Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

Onward to another fun May The 4th in 2026!

To me, the Star Wars movies and events have always been about like-minded, optimistic people coming together to achieve a common Goal, create something Awesome, share a few Laughs and Hugs along the way.

May You find your Tribe that brings out the Fun, Laughter and Best in You. Always!
